MOBILIVRE-BOOKMOBILE North American Tour
Free, all ages, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., parking lot just south of Powell Symphony
Hall, 715 N. Grand, amanda@thecommonspace.org
Plan now to take a long lunch, call in "sick," invent an errand in Grand Center whatever it takes to get you to there.
The Mobilivre is coming!
Brought to you by your friends at The Commonspace and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, the MOBILIVRE-BOOKMOBILE project makes its first St. Louis stop on the 2003 route of its annual touring exhibition of artist books, zines, and independent publications. Traveling by way of a vintage Airstream trailer, the BOOKMOBILE visits a variety of venues in Canada and the U.S. including community centers, schools, libraries, festivals and artist-run centers. A group of coordinators traveling with the exhibition facilitate a series of workshops, artist talks, and educational forums. The project has exposed thousands of visitors to a unique collection of independently produced book works.
A big, silver Airstream on North Grand; now that's just beautiful. And the amazing books you'll see inside are beautiful, compelling, angry, lyrical, radical and just plain cool.
Before or after your visit, plan to pop on over to The Commonspace (just across the street) and see the new art exhibit and our opening-any-second-now café, People's Coffee. You can't buy coffee just yet (t-minus something like one week), but you can go ahead and scope out where "your" table will be...
